A 55-year-old Marysville man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred last week, according to court records and police statements.

Investigators allege that Lyle Goshorn struck a 43-year-old man with a vehicle as the victim walked outside an apartment complex, then took the man's backpack and left the scene, according to probable cause documents.

The Marysville Police Department said the incident took place shortly before 7:30 p.m. on July 1 in the 4800 block of 67th Street NE. The victim was taken to a hospital in a rush but died of his injuries, police said.

Detectives first appealed to the public for help locating a black 2003 Audi A4 sedan. Surveillance camera footage from the area had tied the car to the hit-and-run. Court documents say that in one of the videos, a person in the car can be heard yelling, "I'll run your (expletive) over again. You took my (expletive)."

Witnesses connected the car to Goshorn, according to court records. One person told police that Goshorn asked to hide the vehicle on that person's property and said he might need to leave the country. Court documents state that Goshorn told the witness the victim had struck him in the head with a hammer and stolen cash from him before the hit-and-run.

Officers arrested Goshorn on the afternoon of July 2, police said. Court records indicate one of his eyes was swollen, and he told the arresting officers that he had been hit with a "hammer-like" object.

Court documents say Goshorn is accused of first-degree murder for allegedly driving over the victim on purpose, and of first-degree robbery for allegedly taking the backpack. Marysville police said their investigation is continuing.

His provisional bail was set at $1 million. As of Monday, he remained in the Snohomish County Jail.
